Jeritan Hati Orang dengan HIV Aids (ODHA): Upaya Tafsir Sosioretorik terhadap Markus 5: 25-34

This article aims to examine the social experience of people living with HIV and AIDS (ODHA) through a socio-rhetoric interpretation of Mark 5:25-34. Using a socio-rhetoric approach, this article interprets the biblical text that tells the story of a woman who suffered bleeding for twelve years and was shunned by the community as a relevance of the experience of ODHA who are often marginalized and stigmatized. Findings show that the story reflects the social suffering experienced by ODHA and how Jesus modeled inclusive love and unconditional acceptance of marginalized individuals. This study proposes that ODHA can draw inspiration from this text to build an enthusiastic attitude in the healing process. The expected source of healing is the collaboration between the community and ODHA. The findings provide ethical insights in responding to the stigma against ODHA in Christian society.

Sandora AmbaritaCeline NababanLovina SinambelaEleven Sihotang

This research shows how films can influence someone's way of life. Documentaries, as a storytelling medium, are complex agents of change, embedded in real communities, real lives, and real stories. Because documentaries relate directly to the human social world, watching them involves complex cognitive, psychological, emotional, social and political processes. Therefore, documentaries are a powerful medium for stimulating discussion, reflection and behavior change. This article explores the power of visual narrative and positive media representation as a form of interreligious para social relational dialogue. This article also dives into its practical applications while providing best practices that filmmakers can use to harness this power, as well as reviewing the literature on the social, cognitive, and neurobiological impacts that documentaries may have. This interdisciplinary theory of cognitive-sociological change places documentary films as a tool for increasing interreligious competence because of their unique ability to convey visual stories with interesting characters, thereby creating humanizing experiences and reflectively changing perceptions.

Bona Ventro Simatupang

Migration is a global phenomenon that continues to grow alongside advances in digital technology, but this development has also given rise to rampant job vacancy scams on social media that ensnare prospective migrant workers. Many victims suffer material losses, loss of documents, violence, and even exploitation as a result of illegal recruitment. This study uses a literature review method to analyze the forms of digital fraud and examine the role of the church in providing pastoral care for victims. The results of the study show that the church has a moral and spiritual responsibility to provide holistic services through the four pastoral functions according to Clebsch and Jaekle: healing, strengthening, guiding, and reconciling. This assistance is not only spiritual in nature, but also manifested in concrete actions such as legal aid, counseling, protection, digital literacy education, and the use of technology for online services. This study emphasizes that the church needs to be an agent of love and restoration amid the challenges of the digital age, while also maintaining the dignity of migrant workers as the image and likeness of God.
Lusiana SianturiImel Grace SilitongaMawar E Panjaitan

This paper discusses the meaning and importance of Christmas celebrations in the context of the liturgical year as the beginning of the pilgrimage of faith for Christians. The liturgical year includes a series of events that commemorate the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, with Christmas as one of the important celebrations. Using a descriptive-analytical qualitative method, this research collected data through literature study and observation. The results show that Christmas is more than just a religious celebration; Christmas as a one of the celebrations in the liturgical year marks the beginning of a pilgrimage of faith and reminds people of Jesus’s promise of salvation. The research highlights the importance of celebrating Christmas at the right time in the rhythm of the liturgical year to raise awareness of the pilgrimage of faith.
Oking Sahrul SilitongaAzwar Anas Pasaribu

This article explores the Second Coming of Christ from a Reformed theological perspective, emphasizing its significance as a source of hope rather than fear for believers. Rooted in the authority of Scripture, Reformed theology understands eschatology as the culmination of God’s redemptive work, integrally connected to the doctrines summarized in TULIP. The study highlights the biblical meaning of Parousia as the visible, glorious return of Christ to judge humanity and inaugurate the new creation. While Scripture affirms that the exact time of Christ's return is unknown, it calls believers to live in vigilance, holiness, and obedience. Drawing from key passages such as Matthew 24, 1 Thessalonians 5, Titus 2, and Romans 13, the article underscores the practical implications of eschatological hope namely, moral readiness, spiritual sobriety, and active participation in God’s calling. Reformed churches teach that preparedness does not involve speculative predictions but faithful living grounded in grace. The study rejects sensationalist or fear-based eschatology and instead promotes a balanced understanding that motivates believers toward sanctification, perseverance, and joyful expectation. Ultimately, the Second Coming is presented as the fulfillment of God’s promise, inviting Christians to respond with faith, love, and steadfast commitment as they await Christ’s return with confidence and joy.
Richie Mikyano SiregarElfrida Saragih

Music has the ability to touch the emotional, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of human life. From a biblical perspective, music functions not only as a part of worship but also as a means of spiritual healing, as seen in the story of David playing the harp to soothe King Saul's mental illness (1 Samuel 16:14–23). In the Batak cultural context, traditional music such as gondang, tortor, and ende also has a strong spiritual function as a medium for prayer, comfort, and emotional healing, building solidarity and community strength. This study uses a qualitative approach through literature review to examine the role of music as spiritual therapy based on biblical examples and its relevance in Batak tradition. The results show that music plays not only a theological role but also an important pastoral tool in the lives of the Batak people. Therefore, the church needs to develop contextual music services that are able to address the emotional and spiritual needs of the contemporary Batak congregation.
Elperida SinagaArmila PurbaRiecha Priyadi Fhany Damanik
